March Wishlist

One of my ideas for a new set of posts is to create monthly wishlists, for the next month at the end of every month.... if that makes any kind of sense. So, as we're nearing the end of February, I've been thinking about what I'm planning on buying next month.
First up is this gorgeous bag from Topshop, which is called the Winged Pushlock Tote and costs £45. It is  also available in navy, cream and a deep red, but I prefer the black just because I nearly always buy black bags and personally I just think they go better with a lot more outfits. Also, I'd probably ruin the cream one as I'm quite clumsy - I'd probably drop it in some mud or something :( I've been looking for a new bag for a while now, and I just couldn't seem to find one that I liked! Therefore I'm so pleased I've just found this on the Topshop website! So anyway, that's my first item. You can have a look at the collection here.

Next up are the Rimmel Apocalips lip lacquers. I'm not entirely sure which I want to get yet, as I haven't seen them in person or been able to try any, but at the moment 'Stella' is catching my eye quite a bit. Two or three years ago, red lipstick was my go to lip product, and I absolutely loved it. For some reason, nowadays I can't seem to find one that I suit and can wear regularly. I'm hoping this product changes my mind as it's also quite corally, if that's a word... These are available from Boots and you can see them all here.

Now I know that hot curl brushes are a staple piece in a lot of peoples hair care collections (whatever you want to call it!) but I really struggle trying to find one I can use and keep. Over the past year or so I've bought so many so I can attempt to blow dry my own hair, yet none of them work! So this month, I'm going to go to ask my hairdresser which they use on my hair and hopefully buy that!

I LOVE all things high waist! Ask anyone who knows me, and they'll confirm it, I used to wear high waist shorts a LOT last year. In fact I wore a different pair near enough every day for college. Then, I discovered Topshop high waist jeans and just fell even more in love, if that was even possible! The first pair I bought were ankle grazers, meaning they were slightly cropped. During warmer months they were my #1 wardrobe piece, but as seasons became a bit colder they were slightly neglected. That's why I want these so much! Being full leg length jeans, and skinny, and high waisted, I could wear them all year round. These jeans can also compliment a lot of different styles of outfits, for example, casual, going out shopping, going on a night out etc.  If they're anything like the other similar pair I already have, they're soft and stretchy - they fit like a dream! Can't wait to get my hands on them!

Last but not least, this month I am getting my hair cut! Not only trimmed like usual, but I plan on getting a good few inches taken off as I really want longer, healthy hair before I go to university. I've dyed my hair so many times over the past few years, and I used to use straighteners near enough every day, so my hair is quite unhealthy. Every time I go the hair dressers, I only ask for a trim, and almost always get shouted at saying I need more than an inch off, so I've decided to just go and do it! I'll do a post on this when I go to keep you all updated :)

Exciting news guys!

So, yesterday in college, me and my best friend Lizzie volunteered to help film some informative videos for the college tutors all about the next academic year. Aside from finding out some big changes that will be taking place soon, we also had the chance to meet some of the heads of the college. In the industry I want to work in, networking is vital and it was great to practice early on.

After filming the Vice Principal, she asked what I wanted to do in the future, so with as much enthusiasm as usual, I told her about my passion for PR. Then, to my surprise and excitement, she told me she used to work in PR too! Obviously I saw this as a huge stepping stone to some work experience, but before I even had chance to ask she told me to get in touch with her via email and that she'd sort something out for me, yay!

Also, as my PR tutor has some contacts and experience within PR, he's helping me send out some emails this afternoon to a few companies in Manchester. Hopefully something good will come out of this and I'll be able to get some valuable experience before starting uni in September!

I'll keep you all updated on here and on my Twitter (click the link at the top of my page to get directed to my Twitter page!). I'm keeping my fingers crossed, wish me luck!

Thank you for reading :)

Recommendations Jan/Feb 2013.

I always find myself wanting to know more and more about products before I actually buy them, because we've all been disappointed over a product more than once! You find yourself lusting after a lipstick that's being raved about all over TV, magazines and the blogging world so you finally use what money you had in your account to go and buy it. You get home, put it on, and look ridiculous. Either it smells weird, tastes a little strange or doesn't sit on the lips right at all, and there you go, one extremely let-down girl. Therefore, I always find it best to try and get as many opinions on something as you can before actually buying it. Even if it's cheap, that lipstick could be the difference between "one more drink" on a night out and going home! So, after that long winded introduction, I've decided to write recommendation posts every now and again to give my opinion on what I think are worth spending money on.

1. The Soap and Glory Hair Turban.

The Soap and Glory Hair Turban is a product that does what it says on the tin, well in this case, packaging. It is a lightweight alternative to using a towel wrapped around your hair to dry it, which can sometimes be a bit of a pain. I got this product as a gift, but I did ask for it as I'd read a lot about it on the internet and decided I really did want it. It is fairly simple to use: Put the turban over your head with the button hole at the back. Then, twist the front of the turban a few times and pull back over your head, fastening the button into the hole. I love this product and use it every time I wash my hair. The best thing about it is that it soaks up moisture so well! If you leave it on for 15-20 minutes tops your hair comes out only slightly damp, which if your hair is anything like mine, means you don't have to dry it for ages! The turban retails at £7.50* and you can buy it from here!

2. L'Oréal Hair Expertise Everpure Shampoo, Conditioner and Hair Mask

This trio is a dream for heat damaged hair! Primarily the use of these hair products is for coloured hair care, but I've found that after using these since Christmas my hair seems to feel a lot softer and look less damaged (after dying my hair for the past 4 or 5 years, my hair can sometimes look and feel a bit under nourished). You can buy hair care shampoos a lot cheaper than this L'Oréal  set, but I think it is definitely worth the price (the shampoo and conditioner cost £3.99 each, and the hair masks is £4.66*) There are also a couple of complimenting products that I haven't yet tried but am going to soon in the future. Check them all out here!

3. Garnier Clean & Soft Complete Cleansing Milk

Next up is a product I have only recently started using and I can't recommend it enough! Sometimes I feel like washing my face with soap and water can leave the skin on my face feeling dry and tight, which I hate and this product does the exact opposite. It couldn't be simpler to use; you apply the lotion to a cotton pad and gently remove make up off your face and eyes (yes, it's soft enough to use on the eyes too!) It has a lovely smell, and such a fresh feeling on your skin. When I bought this product, it was on offer so I went back and bought another two because I love it that much! There are variations of this product, but the one I use is specifically for dry skin and it sticks to its word, my skin hasn't got any dryer and if anything has improved!  Have a look at the full range on this link, and at £1.50, you can't go wrong!

4. Lush Ocean Salt Face Wash

I love love love this product! I don't often change the face wash that I use, if I find one that works well I tend to buy it repeatedly. However, I'd seen various recommendations of this face wash, and asked for it as a gift for Christmas and instantly fell in love with it! There is no better word to describe the texture of the face wash than salty. I love the fact you can feel how rough the face wash is so you instantly know that that it is going to cleanse deeply and take any blemishes away with it. After the use of the face wash, my skin was immediately smooth and I could see a noticeable difference in it. Not only does this product contain natural ingredients, it also smells delicious! Once again, Lush have created an amazing product well worth it's £6.95* (100g tub)/£12.95* (250g tub) price tag! Find more information on the product or buy it online here!

5. Carmex Moisturising Lip Balm

I believe that lip balm is a staple piece in anybody's make up bag. It's quick to use, convenient and essential for many people in colder months. Unlike a lot of other lip balms, Carmex sits well on the lips and lasts a few hours, meaning your lips are being nourished for longer, not to mention the gorgeous smell! The best thing about this product is that it actually works! I have been known in the past to buy products purely on smell, look, reviews, anything, and some of the time they have been a waste of money. Carmex costs only £1.69* in either a tube or pot, and I am very pleased to say that it has worked wonders on my usually chapped lips. You can find Carmex at many places, but the most typical would be your high street drugstores and pharmacies. Boots is a particular favourite drugstore of mine, have a look at Carmex available from Boots here.

So there we have it, my first official post! I hope it wasn't tooooo long winded for you, I do have a habit with rambling on, even when I'm typing! Leave me some comments below with any tips on how you think I could improve or any thing else you want me to write posts on :) Thanks for reading guys!

Hey everyone!

Over the past few months I've been reading more and more blogs, and I find myself so interested and inspired that I've decided to create my own! There are a few things I want to use this blog for, from things like wish lists, recommendations, reviews, maybe some tutorials, to posts with student tips for things like budgeting, nights out and organization etc!  Now just to clarify, I am by no means a professional make up artist, I mean I probably don't even do my own make up but in my posts I will just be giving my own honest opinion. :)

Being a student means I don't have an insane amount of money, but I have enough to cover the essentials and a few (more than I should have spent money on) luxuries too. I hope you enjoy reading my posts; I may even start posting vlogs at some time in the near future :) Speak soon!
