Recently I popped into Boots as I had some time to kill before work, and was pleasantly surprised to see that there was a 3 for 2 offer on makeup. Naturally, I had to pick a few things up! The Rimmel Wake Me Up foundation had been on my ‘to buy’ list for a while now, and what better time to try it than when on offer? I bought the shade Ivory as I’m quite pale, but I haven’t had much luck with drugstore foundations matching my skin colour, so I was a little apprehensive!
var _gaq = _gaq || []; _gaq.push(['_setAccount', 'UA-39507175-1']); _gaq.push(['_setDomainName', 'amyjanealice.blogspot.com']); _gaq.push(['_trackPageview']);
(function() { var ga = document.createElement('script'); ga.type = 'text/javascript'; ga.async = true; ga.src = ('https:' == document.location.protocol ? 'https://ssl' : 'http://www') + '.google-analytics.com/ga.js'; var s = document.getElementsByTagName('script')[0]; s.parentNode.insertBefore(ga, s); })();
The foundation for me was quite sheer when I applied it, though I do usually use MAC’s Studio Fix which gives super high coverage, so maybe I’m just not used to anything less. Anyway, I had to build it up to get good coverage. Despite how it looks on my hand, on my face it looked quite dark – not ivory! I was so disappointed because I’d read some great reviews regarding the colour. I also found that the Rimmel Wake Me Up foundation didn’t really cover up imperfections either. Maybe if I built the foundation up more it would have covered my blemishes and dark circles, but as it’s too dark I just couldn’t do that. As for the ‘Anti-Fatigue’ properties it claims to have, I feel like I still looked tired and that the foundation didn’t really make a difference. It does give a dewy look to the skin, but I do prefer matte finishes so it didn’t look too great on me. I can’t quite put my finger on why I looked so awful with this foundation on. I mean yes, it was too dark, but there was just something about the way it sat on my skin that just didn’t look good!
I’m so disappointed because I was super excited to try it out and I wanted to fall in love with it, but I’m just not loving it. I’m going to try it out a few more times to see if I can get it to look any better and I’ll take it on holiday with me to see how it looks when I’ve got a bit more colour myself. Rimmel also sell the Wake Me Up foundation in True Ivory which wasn’t in stock when I was in Boots, so I’ll give this a swatch and see if that’s any paler.
What are your experiences with the Rimmel Wake Me Up?

I have the exact same issues with this foundation! It's annoying as all my friends rave about how great it is- it's just not for me i guess!

That's such a shame you didn't like it. I got a free sample and loved it! I didn't think it made me look more awake but it covered my blemishes and matched my skin tone fine.
