Kimono - New Look (similar)
Jeans - Warehouse
Cami - Warehouse (similar)
Wedges - Primark
Satchel - Warehouse

The third and final OOTD post from my holiday is one of my favourites. This kimono is gorgeous and I think it's a great addition to your SS14 wardrobe. I teamed mine wth some jeans, black wedges and this coloured cami. It's lightweight so perfect for warm days and nights, but also gives you something to cover up with.

Exactly a month ago today, my boyfriend George and I went on our first holiday together to Alcudia in Spain. I can't really believe it's taken this long for me to write this post, but I have been a little absent from amyjanealice recently. With starting a new full time job a couple of weeks ago among other things, I've felt a little drained and uncreative and so I didn't want to post if my heart wasn't in it. However, now I'm back with a long list of ideas, so keep your eyes out for future posts!

Anyway, my holiday was the best week I've had in a long time, if not ever. It was so lovely to just relax and spend the whole week with George. I think being able to do that has brought us closer together, despite having been together for nearly three years already. I loved wearing no makeup during the day, scraping my hair back into a ponytail and wearing cute dresses without worrying about my devastaingly pale legs. We spent the days at the beach or by the pool, reading until George convinced me to play bat and ball in the water for what felt like forever (which I was terrible at), or lying on the inflatable lilo we bought floating around. At night we got dressed up, went out for food and took advantage of the all inclusive bars. Cheese and ham toasties are a must in Spain, so we definitely overindulged in those.

The break really helped us to both refresh, and for George, get a tan. Me on the other hand, the only indications I ever went on holiday are the freckles on my face and the slight tan line where my all inclusive band was on my wrist. It was amazing, and we're already discussing our next break!

Moving out and going to university is an exciting time, and with so much going on in your mind at once it would be easy to get confused. From thinking about all the clothes you want to take, to all the necessities for your kitchen, here is a cleverly devised checklist of all the important items you don't want to forget!

  • Your passport, drivers license and national insurance number
  • TV License if not provided
  • A CV and any references you have gained
  • Your bank details
  • Your doctors and dentist details along with your NHS number
  • A diary or calender could also be useful to make sure you don't forget any important events!
  • Grab a map of the local area and a guide to what's going on

If you're sharing a flat with a few others, it would be a good idea to discus what kitchen items you could each bring. It wouldn't be very useful if all 5 of you brought a toastie maker yet no one brought any pans to cook any food. Maybe just bring the essential items with you on your first day and then discuss which appliances each could bring in the following few days. Also, maybe you could all put some money together and buy anything else needed between you. The majority of the time, appliances will already be provided in the flats but this will be something you need to find out prior to moving in.

  • Corkscrew and bottle opener
  • Mugs, glasses, cutlery, tin opener and scissors
  • Plates and bowls
  • Frying pans and saucepans
  • Chopping board
  • Basic cupboard ingredients - coffee, tea, sugar, salt, pepper etc
  • Cooking utensils - wooden spoon, spatula, masher
  • Plastic boxes suitable for freezing - place any left over food (spag bol for example) in and freeze for another days meal!
  • Plastic bowl that is suitable for microwaving - perfect for heating soups and beans!
  • Sandwich bags, tin foil and clingfilm
  • Tea towels and oven gloves
  • Tray to carry food on if eating in bedroom
  • Washing up liquid, dishcloth and scrubbing brush (for when the washing up actually DOES get done)

  • Bath mat, bath and hand towels and a flannel
  • A basket to keep all your shower things in (handy if not in an en suite bedroom!)
  • Toilet paper
  • Toothbrush, toothpaste and mouthwash
  • Shower accessories - soaps, bodywash, shampoo, conditioner
  • Hair gels, hairspray, deodorant
  • Hairbrush
  • Scissors, razors and shaving gel/foam

Electrical Items
  • Alarm clock
  • Mini fridge (for if you can't be bothered to walk to the kitchen!)
  • Calculator
  • Laptop and charger, memory stick, printer and network cable
  • Phone charger
  • Bedside lamp
  • TV and DVD player
  • Camera - document your time at university so you can relive the memories later on
  • Headphones
  • Extension lead
  • Batteries

Studying Essentials
  • Desk lamp

  • Clothes horse to dry your clothes in your room
  • Dustpan and brush
  • Cleaning products for your flat and your clothes
  • Dusters

  • Hot water bottle
  • Sleeping bag (if your mates stay over)

  • Extra storage

  • Spare lightbulb
  • Torch
  • Any loose change
  • Fan
  • Clock

Checked Trousers - Primark
Kimono - New Look
Cami - Warehouse (similar)
Satchel - Warehouse (similar)
Wedges - Primark

I LOVE these trousers. I'd been looking for some like these for so long and one day I was browsing through Primark just to pick up some face cloths, I spotted these! It's always the case: when you are looking for something in particular you can never find it, when you push it out of your mind, you do find it! Anyway these were only around £12 - such a bargain! The shoes (again from Primark) have been a favourite of mine for the past few months. They go with everything, look great and are super comfy to wear.

Kimono - Beach Melba (similar item)
Denim High Waisted Shorts - Topshop
Cropped Cami - Asos
Watch - New Look (sold out in pink)
Sunglasses - Primark

This time last week I was enjoying eating my dinner in the sun in Alcudia, Spain with my lovely boyfriend George. As much as I hate to be back in miserable Manchester, it just means I can get excited about our next holiday together now! While I was there I wanted to take some pictures for a few OOTD posts, something I don't usually post on amyjanealice. I've been loving this handmade kimono from Beach Melba, and as far as I am aware, it's one of only two that have been made! It's perfect to wear with casual outfits like mine, but it would also look gorgeous dressed up with some heels and statement jewellery. I think it would also look great as a cover up at the beach or by the pool even. It's nice and thin meaning you can wear it on the warmer days we occasionally get in England, but also keeps the chill away. Although this exact kimono is no longer available, there are plenty more in some beautiful materials, along with two pieces, skirts and loads more unique items. Beach Melba also create custom pieces, so get in touch if you have something particular in mind! Also, I have a 20% discount code for you to use to treat yourselves to some lovely pieces from Beach Melba! Just use 'BEACHFRIENDS20' at the checkout. You're welcome!
