THE DISCOVERY CLUB AT THE FRAGRANCE SHOP | SUMMER 2014

Perfume is one thing I can never decide on. If you read rave reviews about a certain mascara, you can often pick one up and try it out for around £9 on the high street. Similarly with clothing; Primark offer many look-alike designs to those of more expensive shops for a considerably cheaper price. If you don't get on with something, there isn't much love lost. However, perfume can be quite expensive, and you want to get it right the first time. Enter: The Discovery Club*. Created by The Fragrance Shop, it's the perfect monthly subscription box.

Each box comes full to the brim with seven vials of the seasons hottest new scents and £40 (!!) worth of exclusive money off vouchers. The Discovery Club helps you to find your next favourite perfume, and also gives you the opportunity to try out a scent you wouldn't usually pick up yourself.

I'm a huge fan of floral and fruity scents, so I was bound to love Prada Candy wasn't I? Summer 2014's Discovery Club box also includes Paco Rabanne Lady Million Eau My Gold which is gorgeous! There's also something for the men in your life too, my dad's a huge fan of Givenchy's Gentlemen Only.

You can subscribe to The Discovery Club for only £5 per month, so it costs a total of £20 per year and you can unsubscribe at any time. It makes a great gift for yourself, or someone else, or is just a great subscription box to treat yourself to. It's coming up to my birthday and I had no idea what I wanted, but after receiving this box I might have to ask for a new perfume!

ORIGINS DRINK UP INTENSIVE MASK

origins-drink-up-intensive

I knew it would only be a matter of time until I caved and bought the Origins Drink Up Intensive Mask. It wasn't until I got back off holiday with horrendous skin that I decided it was definitely time to take the plunge. For some reason, when on holiday, my skin seems to take a turn for the worst and I come home with a face full of freckles, blemishes and flaky skin. Applying makeup soon turned into a disaster due to my lumpy (for want of a better word) and dry skin, and there was only one product that came to mind. Naturally, I dashed to my nearest Boots and picked one up as soon as.

The Origins Drink Up Intensive is a mask that you apply as the last step of your night time skincare routine. I use a very small amount, pea sized, and massage it all over my face. It's soaked up right away and smells gorgeous! Designed for dry and dehydrated skin, it's the perfect lotion for me. Despite being essentially an intense moisturiser, it doesn't leave the skin feeling greasy at all. After a few uses, I definitely noticed a change in my skin. I could now actually apply makeup without it turning cakey after an hour or so, and my skin also looked a lot healthier and brighter too. Win-win. I also couldn't stop touching my face; I swear my skin has never been so soft! In the mornings, cleanse as normal and voila, the Drink Up Intensive has done it's job.

At £23 for 100ml, it may seem a little expensive compared to other masks and moisturisers, though this one is nothing like the rest. It's the first mask that has actually made a noticeable difference to both the look and feel of my skin, and combined with the other products in my trusty skincare lineup, I've never felt better. Plus with only having to use such a small amount two or three times a week, it's guaranteed to last! In fact, I'm that big a fan of this product, I'm definitely going to have to try out more from Origin's skincare. Have you tried the Origins Drink Up Intensive?

FLINT PLUS FLINT SKINCARE

Skincare has become of my favourite things over the past few months. Whether it's buying new skincare, finding a new holy grail product or reading skincare posts - I love it. My skincare routine has been the same for a while now, as after years of mixing things up and trying different products, I've finally found something that works. When Flint + Flint asked me if I'd like to try some of their skincare range, I was super excited and jumped at the chance. Flint + Flint are a new all English skincare company, who have unlocked the secret behind true skin health by creating a unique range of nine products to revolutionise anybody's skin care regime.

Over the years my skin has been quite temperamental; some days it's super dry, other times it appears dull and lifeless and occasionally it can be a little oily. The Moisturiser 3 x is a triple action nourishing moisturiser which is suitable for all skin types - perfect for me! As the weather in Manchester is getting colder, my skin is more dry than anything. The Moisturiser 3 x contains Hyaluronic acid which helps the moisture penetrate the deeper layers of skin. This should help to plump up the skin and restore water balance. I have definitely noticed a difference in the feel of my skin - it's softer and definitely a lot more nourished than before using this moisturser. It's super thick and is absorbed into the skin in minutes, so you can really feel it working.

Their Glycolic Cleanser has been such a great addition to my routine, ridding my skin of any dead skin cells and working with The Moisturiser 3 x to brighten my skin. It also contains a special ingredient, Bisabolol, which helps to prevent the effects of daily stress having an impact on your skin! My skin seems a lot more fresh and revitalised after using this cleanser, and though feels a little strange after application due to the acid doing it's magic, it has a lovely result and is so worth it.

Thanks to the fab traits I have inherited from my family, I do have quite puffy eyes and so am always on the hunt for a good eye cream. Enter Eye Hero from Flint Plus Flint. It applies so easily and sinks into the skin in seconds, leaving both under the eye and the lids feeling soft and supple. As EyeHero contains the active ingredient Eyeserl, it is proven to reduce puffiness. I have been using it regularly and do feel that there is a difference from how my eyes looked before, so this is certainly something I'll be keeping close!

Primers are always something I struggle with, with my skin being quite fussy as to what type it is. The SPF 30 Primer has been such a treat to use: my makeup stays on longer, it's moisturising and also (as the name may suggest) it contains SPF and so offers protection against harmful UVA, UVB and UV rays.

It's always refreshing to find a line of products all from the same brand that actually work and are so simple to understand due to them being suitable for each skin type. Flint Plus Flint has been created by industry experts, and you can really tell that a lot of thought has been put into each and every product, from the packaging to the ingredients. Something else I love about Flint Plus Flint skincare is the smell! I know that may sound a little strange, and won't have a huge impact on whether or not you buy a product, but I think it's an added bonus that what you are applying to your face is nice and pleasant smelling.

The products mentioned in this post were sent to me by Flint Plus Flint for reviewing purposes, yet as always, opinions are all honest and my own.

A LITTLE UPDATE...

Over the past couple of months, there has been a few changes in both my personal life and work life. I recently began a full time job in a student accomodation office, in which I've worked in for the past five summers. When I get home from work I'm so tired I end up falling asleep around 9pm and waking up again in the morning when my alarm goes off. At the weekends, I try to spend as much time as possible with my boyfriend, and due to this, my blog took a little bit of a back seat. I've never been one to feel like I have to apologise for not posting, as who would want to read something half arsed? It's better to write when you really want to write. That way, you're not writing a load of drivel no one cares about.

After realising I'd been neglecting amyjanealice, and missing the community and pride I felt after putting effort and passion into each post, I decided I needed to sort myself out and get back into the swing of things properly. Along with this, I want to have a good go at creating YouTube videos. This is something I've wanted to do for a long while now, and although I have two videos up here already, I want to arrange a routine and really make a go of it. With the wages I'm earning over Summer, I want to invest in a camera that I can use for both filming and taking pictures for my blog, which is another thing I want to improve. I don't want to use working full time as an excuse for my sporadic blogging, and so I need to take some of my own advice from my blogging organisation post and get a plan put together.

Last month I got my results from uni, and found out that I was 0.75 marks off a first. Of course this is a brilliant result and I'm so pleased with it, but that tiny gap is taunting me... Since finishing university for the summer, my mindset has definitely changed on quite a few things. I'm feeling a lot more confident within myself and my abilities, which a few months ago I wasn't. There's definitely no reason to dwell on things or waste time on people that make you unhappy, so I had a kind of 'life clean'. I rearranged my room which always makes me feel better, decided who and what mattered to me and began living life to make me happy. That sounds cringey as, but I honestly feel better for it. Wear whatever you want, listen to whatever music you want, like whatever you want, as people will like you much better as yourself than whoever you may pretend to be.

Aaaand.... relax. This got a little deep and preachy didn't it? Phew. I just felt like I needed a little update on the blog and am looking forward to living a more positive and carefree life. Happy happy happy!
