2017 has been full of amazing things. I’ve met some awesome people, some who have become good friends, I graduated with a First Class degree, my blog was featured in Blogosphere magazine, I celebrated my six year anniversary with my boyfriend George and I’ve read some amazing books of which many have become firm favourites to name a few things.
I like to spend time looking to the year ahead in December and because a lot in my life revolves around books, I’ve decided to write about my bookish resolutions and goals over this post and the next. Keep reading to find out my resolutions and keep an eye out for my goals coming soon!
1. Read daily
Reading is one of my favourite things to do. I love getting cosy with a couple of pillows, a blanket, some tasty snacks (I’m still not coordinated enough to read and eat at the same time though) and a good book. Even still, some days I get home and find myself wasting time lounging around or watching TV. In 2018, I want to dedicate some time out of each day for “me time” in which I’m going to do nothing but read!
2. Read more non fiction
I do love non fiction, don’t get me wrong, but I do tend to gravitate towards fiction more – especially fantasy! I have a whole pile of non fiction books just waiting to be read, and so next year I definitely want to make myself through them.
3. Keep my bookcases (or “book piles dotted around the room” which is probably more apt) organised and tidy
So as you can probably tell by the above, I have books everywhere. Like on every available surface. I’m sure some of you can agree? In 2018 I’m hoping to move out and get my hands on some more bookcases. I’m beyond excited to re-organise my books and shelves and set up my own office-stroke-reading-room!
4. Work on my WIP weekly
I’ve had a couple of ideas for a story rattling around my head for around two years now, and it’s definitely about time I put pen to paper. I did decide to try my hand at NaNoWriMo this year but I got as far as…. not even starting day one. Oops. So instead of putting pressure on myself during one month, I’m going to work on it weekly.
5. Take more notes whilst reading
Sometimes I am so engrossed in a story that I don’t want to stop for anything, let alone a little post it note! Though, I’ve found that if I make notes and tab pages whilst reading, I have a fab time going back and picking out my favourite pages and quotes – and it always helps for when I’m writing my review!
Do you have any bookish resolutions for the New Year? I’m going to be posting about my bookish goals in the next couple of days so keep an eye out!

I want to finish the first draft of my WIP next year and, hopefully, start editing it. I won NaNo, but it only took me halfway. :’)
Good luck with your goals!

Fantastic goals! I really need to take notes on the books I read as well—I’m horrible about remembering what I wanted to say when I go to write my reviews!!
P.S. I found you via the NewBloggers Discord group! 🙂

I always forget something huge I wanted to say when writing my review so notes in a must for future reviews! And thank you Nicole, off to check out your blog now 🙂
