So it's the 1st of October and we all know what that means... it's the best time of the year! Over the next three months we have Halloween, Bonfire Night and Christmas, so we can sit back and indulge in everything Autumnal and festive. To celebrate the spookiest time of the year, throughout October I'll be reading freaky themed books and reviewing them here on amyjanealice. I'm so excited to read through the books I've got planned (hoping that I actually do stick to the plan) and it's the first time I've done something like this so I can't wait to get started. Review: An Enchantment of Ravens by Margaret Rogerson
First of all, I need more from this world! I fell utterly in love with this story and devoured the whole book in one evening; I just could not put it down. An Enchantment of Ravens was one of my most anticipated reads of 2017, so when it landed on my doorstep a day early, I couldn't help but squeal! I'd heard so many great things about the book, and being a lover of Fae and Faeries in general, I just knew I was going to love it; I wasn't disappointed. Read on my full spoiler free review. From the cover: Isobel is a prodigy portrait artist with a dangerous set of clients: the sinister ... Read the Post...
Review: Moxie by Jennifer Mathieu
A few months ago I heard about Zoella's latest bookclub collection with WHSmith, and one of those books was Moxie by Jennifer Mathieu. I'd seen the book buzzing around on social media quite a bit, and I just knew I had to read it. While it has only been released today, the store was selling it early because of the collection. So of course, I had to pick up a copy straight away. During my weekend at YALC back in July, Moxie's publishers Hodder Children's ran an activity where you could get your hands on an ARC of Moxie. All you had to do was find the girl with the Moxie badges and declare "I ... Read the Post...
Ten Things They Don’t Tell You About Being a Book Blogger
Last week I was thinking back to when I first started writing amyjanealice. It was in 2013 and it started out as a beauty blog, with a couple of lifestyle posts thrown in here or there, but it wasn't long before I dedicated my site to my true love: books. All of this got me thinking back to when I first started out, thinking that I knew quite a bit about the community when really I didn't. So here's ten things they don't tell you about book blogging (but they also work if you just love books in general)! 1. You will suffer from "non review" guilt Should I really be reading this book ... Read the Post...
Review: Fireblood by Elly Blake
Back in January, I was lucky enough to be part of the blog tour for Elly Blake's debut novel, Frostblood. I devoured the book in just a few days and gave it well deserved 4.5/5 stars, and so its sequel Fireblood crept its way to the top of my most anticipated releases for 2017. Just like her first story, I raced through this one, totally enthralled from beginning to end. My review is spoiler free for Fireblood, but be careful if you haven't read Frostblood yet! From the (beautiful) cover: Against all odds, Ruby has defeated the villainous Frost King and melted his throne of ice. But ... Read the Post...
