Highlighters haven’t always been a necessary piece of my makeup collection, but as I’ve got more into contouring and adding definition to my face, I’ve definitely been buying more of them. Last week I was feeling quite spendy, and after browing the Feel Unique website and finding out that its actually one of the top rated products, I caved and bought theBalm Mary Lou Manizer Luminizer.
“Meet Mary-Lou Manizer, a seemingly innocent honey-hued luminizer that catches everybody’s eye. This highlighter, shadow and shimmer diffuses light so your skin looks softer and youger, while adding a subtle glow.”
The first thing I noticed was how cute the packaging is. I’m a huge fan of kitch and vintage-esque packaging, so this was already a thumbs up from me. The Mary Lou Manizer comes in a solid compact which will help to keep it protected when rattling around your makeup bag and a mirror which is always useful.
The product itself is super soft and buttery making it easily blendable, and as it’s so soft it could even pass for a cream highlighter once it’s been applied! One thing I love about this highlighter is the fact that you don’t get any pieces of chunky glitter sat on top of your makeup. Although I can’t say that the Mary Lou Manizer looks natural as such, it definitely doesn’t look garish or too much if you take the time to build it up slowly and blend. The shade is quite yellow toned, champagne I’d call it. It looks lovely against my pale MAC NW10 skin, and I’m sure it would look gorgeous against even darker skin tones. The Mary Lou Manizer seems like such a versatile highlighter, suitable for all skin colours and it can even be used as an eyeshadow!
At £17.50 for 8,5g, it is a little more that I’d usually spend on a highlighter but again, I fell into the trap of “the blogger made me buy it”. I’m glad that I finally got my hands on it and I’m definitely looking forward to using it more during Summer and on my holiday.
I always fall into the 'blogger made me buy it' trap too haha! Infact, I probably am going to with this too as every time I see it, I want it. The name and packaging is enough to make me interested but it also looks like a really lovely highlighter 🙂
