Much to everybody’s amazement, we’re having some pretty great weather in England recently. It’s funny; we all complain when it’s raining or windy, and we all complain when it’s warm. Seems like we’re never happy! Jokes aside, while basking in the sun is perfectly relaxing, it’s also really important to stay safe and protect yourself from the suns rays. Rates of skin cancer are increasing faster than any other cancer in the UK, and melanoma is now one of the most common cancers in young adults aged 15-34. Some might think that suncreams are only for holidays abroad, but that isn’t the case. Any exposure to the sun while unprotected can be potentially dangerous, and nobody likes sunburn. But, how do you know when you’ve applied enough? And when to reapply to reap the protective benefits?
Enter Smartsun. Smartsun have created one use UV Indicator Wristbands*, and while it might sound like a bit of a gimmick, I actually think it’s a really good idea. Especially for us fair skinned people who feel like they need to constantly top up on suncream. The wristband changes colour depending on whether you’re safe to stay in the sun, you should reapply cream or you should get inside! It works by measuring the amount of UV radiation you’ve been exposed to across the day and takes away all the guesswork away from reapplication. The wristbands are perfect for holidays, days out in the countryside or exploring a new town, any time you’re going to be in the sun for a considerable amount of time. It’s also pretty easy to time to pass by between suncream applications, and so this ensures you never forget.
With the rising rates of skin cancer, staying safe in the sun is more important than ever and while there are many ways to do this, the Smartsun wristbands are an affordable, discreet and helpful way to do this. I know this is a little different than most of my posts on amyjanealice, but I think it’s such an important issue and I hope that this benefits at least one of you!
