Opening the latest FairyLoot box is one of my favourite moments of the whole month, but I was particularly looking forward to November’s Ladies That Slay edition! I knew that we were being treated to not one but two books – and one was an ARC – so I couldn’t wait to get my hands on it.
FairyLoot is a “fantasy focused monthly subscription box containing a Young Adult book and some hand selected bookish goodies” as described on their website. You can commit to six or twelve month subscriptions or if you’re fast enough, you can get your hands on their single purchase boxes!
So, the bit that I was most looking forward to this month: the books! The November new release was The Last Namasara by Kristen Ciccarelli. I’ve heard a lot about this book and so I’m really looking forward to picking it up, especially as it is packed with fierce ladies and dragons and features exclusive silver foiling. As always, the book also came with a letter from the author and a signed bookplate too.
The ARC that we very luckily received (and that I basically dove into the box headfirst to find) was Furyborn by Claire Legrand, another story with kickass female characters which isn’t officially released until May 2018! Again, this is a book I’ve seen and read a lot of great things about, so I was super excited to find this in November’s box and definitely think I’ll be diving into this very soon.
Aside from two fantastic sounding books, the Ladies That Slay was packed to the brim with other amazing bookish goodies like the Exclusive Fight Darkness Sticker by Reverie & Ink which features a quote from the much loved An Ember in the Ashes by Saba Tahir (gosh I really need to read this book).
One of my all time favourite female characters is Hermione Granger, without a doubt, and as the box name would suggest, she really is a lady that slays. So I am in love with the Exclusive Brightest Witch Candle by Flick The Wick. With scents of vanilla, lily, musk, raspberry and citrus, it smells delicious and I’ve already been burning it!
Next was the Exclusive Blue’s Brew by Bookish Teas which smells frickin’ delicious. I’m usually a “teabag, two sugars and splash of milk” kind of girl but I don’t think I’ll be able to resist this. Inspired by Blue Sargent from The Raven Cycle, it even includes edible glitter!
Another awesome female character is Katniss Everdeen from The Hunger Games, and I’ve already been debating which jacket to attach the Exclusive Fire is Catching Badge by Literary Emporium. Luckily, you can iron this patch on, which will save me trying to utilise my poor sewing skills.
So now we’re on to what has to be my favourite item this month: the Exclusive Slay Book Sleeve designed by Aunjuli Art. Featuring swords and books, it’s the perfect match with this month’s box. I’m pretty much always carrying a book around with me, so using this with it’s waterproof lining will mean that I can keep them safe and clean at all times!
Just like every month, there were a couple of extras thrown in too, such as The Last Namasara swag and a This Mortal Coil Enamel pin. Every time I buy one of these boxes, I’m blown away by the hard work that Anissa and Michael put in to their boxes. If you’re thinking about buying one, go ahead and do it! You won’t regret it – promise.
