I used to write FairyLoot unboxings every month, and I did that for just over a year. But you may have noticed (or maybe not!) that I haven’t posted one for the past couple of months. But now I’m back! I’m really pleased with this month’s box, so couldn’t wait to take some pictures and talk about it all on here. April’s theme was Whimsical Journeys and features some awesome fandoms. Keep on reading to see what was included in the April FairyLoot box.
FairyLoot is a “fantasy focused monthly subscription box containing a Young Adult book and some hand selected bookish goodies” as described on their website. You can commit to six or twelve month subscriptions or if you’re fast enough, you can get your hands on their single purchase boxes!
First up is the Exclusive Blackjack Enamel Pin designed by Taratjah, inspired by Percy Jackson’s black Pegasus, Blackjack. Now admittedly, I haven’t read any of the Percy Jackson books. I know I know, before you all shout at me I know that I should because I have heard amazing things, but I just haven’t gotten around to it. That aside, it’s still a lovely pin so I’ll definitely be adding it to my lanyard!
Next we have a bookish candle, a much loved product that we get our hands on most months. I’m not complaining! The April offering is Leif’s Ship, inspired by a character from this month’s book and created by Flick The Wick in collaboration with the author. The scent is fairly “masculine” and reminds me of one of my all time favourite candles, Midsummer’s Night by Yankee Candle. I can’t wait to burn it!
Ok so this is one of my favourite items from the April FairyLoot box, the Exclusive Magical Beasts Luggage Tag designed by Lovely Owls Books, which is of course inspired by Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them by J.K. Rowling. Look how gorgeous this is! I’m so excited to use this on my upcoming holiday to Spain, and was so happy to see such a unique item included in the box.
Again, we have another item that I haven’t seen in a FairyLoot box before; this is the Exclusive Reusable Narnia Coffee Mug! It has such beautiful artwork on and is super lightweight, which makes it perfect for carrying around on the go. This beautiful travel mug is by Ink and Wonder and I’m looking forward to taking this to work with me.
If you saw my unboxing of this box over on my Instagram stories, you’ll know how happy I was about the Exclusive Fictional Places Art Print by FictionTea Designs. It features most of my favourite fictional places, but most importantly, my number one: Velaris. I would very much like to go there, please!
Who doesn’t love a tote bag? Definitely not me! I’m in love with the print on the Exclusive Adventure Tote Bag designed by Stella’s Bookish Art. Featuring a quote from The Hobbit by J.R.R. Tolkien, perhaps one of the ultimate adventure stories, I can’t wait to start using it.
And finally, this month’s book: Beyond a Darkened Shore by Jessica Leake. I suspected that this book would be included, but was pleasantly surprised by the cover. It isn’t what I was expecting but I love it all the same, and it makes me even more excited to pick it up! We were also treated to a letter from the author and a signed bookplate as usual, along with a couple of other little goodies relating to the book. A fantastical sounding story filled with battles, visions, magical powers and an epic fight to save their world, it sounds awesome and I’ll definitely be reading it soon.
While because I’m not a huge lover of all of the fandoms featured I didn’t have the emotional attachment to the items as I may have done if they were related to a fandom I love, but despite this the box featured some really unique and interesting items so I was really pleased anyway!
If you’ve been debating picking up a FairyLoot box, then I would advise that you definitely go ahead and do it. It’s such a gift every month and I even subscribed to put a stop to going through the monthly panic of single purchase!
