Wow, I can’t believe how long I’ve gone without writing to you guys on here. I know my last few posts have started with apologies for the length of time between each but I guess a little more explanation is needed considering when my last post was – almost three months ago, oops.

So where have I been?
Back in July my boyfriend George and I put an offer in on our first home after viewing three different properties. Fast forward three months to October 1st after a lot of stress and paperwork, we finally got our keys. Our house is a 1930s semi detached and required a lot more work than we anticipated.
We had a crazy few months where we were going to work every day and then straight to the house for a few hours and then spending full weekends at the house too, so we both found ourselves without much time for “us”. As a result, my time for reading became pretty much non-existent. And even if I was reading the last thing I was thinking about was writing about the books too. I was pretty sad about it (reading is a huge part of my life as I’m sure a lot of you can agree with) but at the same time I knew that was I was doing was so important. After a lot of renovation, fixing, building and decorating we moved in on the 30th December and got to celebrate the new year in our new home and we are so happy about that, and now that we are almost done I can say it was worth it.
We still have a little bit of unpacking to do and a couple of jobs like paint the kitchen and don’t even get me started on the garden (definitely a job for the Spring time) but of course I had to make sure my bookcases were built and filled, right?
What’s next?
I’m excited to be blogging again but having said that I’m not putting any pressure on myself. At the beginning of the year I tweeted about my plans and goals for 2019, and I guess the main thing was to read what I want to and when I want to. It’s so easy to get hung up on feeling like you *have* to read that particular release right now, or that you *have* to love and finish a certain book because everybody else has. I also used to feel really guilty about ‘DNF-ing’ a book but now I just think “maybe now isn’t the time for this book, but maybe in a couple of months it will be” instead of feeling that I’m putting it down forever.
In terms of my blog, I do want to get back to reviewing my reads because I enjoy getting my thoughts down even though I can’t say they are always articulate… However following suit I don’t want to write because I feel like I have to do it. I just want 2019 to be the year I fall in love with the books I read and write about and never feel pressured to do so.
Watch this space!
So, that’s where I’ve been. Thank if you read this far down, it got pretty lengthy ha! If anybody is interested in a post or series about first time buying then please do let me know, or just drop me a message on any of my social channels or via email and I’ll be happy to help you out.
I’m excited for the year ahead and for all of the awesome books I’m hoping I will read and discover. What are you looking forward to reading this year?
Well done getting your new home sorted. We’re in the same process here and I’m just planning my bookcases. Looking forward to reading from you again!
Thank you Sabrina and good luck with the whole process! 🙂
