There’s just something so exciting about the prospect of a new year, right? I know the whole “new year, new me” is exhausted by now, but I can’t deny that the idea of a new start as it were makes me feel super optimistic and motivated.
This year I want to live my best bookish life possible, falling back in love with reading and new stories. I’ve been in the biggest reading slump over the last few months of 2019 and it made me super sad. I wanted to read, but every book I picked up just didn’t excite me. So, with that in mind, today I’m sharing my bookish goals and resolutions for 2020!

Read the books on my 2020 TBR Trolley which I posted about here
Put £1 away per book read to try and save some money to spend on more books!
DNF any book I’m not enjoying reading. I want 2020 to be filled with the best books possible
Read daily… even if it’s only a little
Read 30 books. I’m trying not to put pressure on myself again this year, so I’m setting a manageable goal and then if I beat it then yay
Read more diversely. This is something I’ve been working on for a while and I definitely want to continue into the New Year
Only buy highly anticipated books. I have a bad habit of buying books for no reason and then shoving them to one side and not reading the books I’m actually excited for
Read the books I already own. Similar to number 7, I want to make my way through the books I already own that I’ve been excited about for way too long
Re-read Throne of Glass (again) and annotate. I’ve wanted to do this for the longest time and I can’t wait!
Crosspost my reviews on Amazon and Goodreads. This is something I’ve been trying to do over the last few months but want to be better at. Even for those books I may not necessarily post reviews for on my blog
Be more present in comment pods. I joined a couple of pods in 2019 and they are full of some amazing people and content. I plan on working through them every few days instead of leaving it until I have a huge backlog
Create and stick to an Instagram schedule. Sometimes I can be rubbish on Instagram and I need to change that!
Listen to more audiobooks. This is something I’ve been slacking with lately. I want go back to listening to audiobooks while I drive to work and back and also while I’m doing any jobs around the house. I’m excited!
Post twice a week. I’m attempting to use a bullet journal again this year and I’m going to have a few spreads to help organise my blog. Look forward to more consistent content this year!
Phew, so there are actually more goals and resolutions for 2020 than I first anticipated! I’m pretty confident though, I think they’re actually quite realistic. Do you have any bookish resolutions for this year?
Absolutely love the idea of a £1 a book, what a great way to save!! I need to read more of the books I own before I start buying any more, I have a very bad habit of doing that!
Me too! Let’s hope that this is the year we do it 🙂
I’ve started the £1 a book idea. Wish I’d done it last year. Think I’ll join you on the highly anticipated books too! I’ll go into a bookstore and walk out with books that I’ll then ignore forever more! Good luck with your goals!
Thank you – you too! 🙂
Excellent goals! I’ve set my target much lower this year as I plan to read more mindfully.
Will you be posting your TOG annotations?

That is a fantastic idea! I would love to share them on here 🙂
Brilliant resolutions, I particularly love the idea of putting a £1 away for each book you read!
I just keep thinking that like last year I would have had £80 if I’d done it then!
I need to cross post my reviews! Thank you for reminding me. Good luck with your goals!
No problem! <3
If you need me to hold you accountable let me know ill try😂😂 but honestly i think youll smash it this year
yes pls. I have no self control
