Earlier in the month I wrote about the books that I really need to read in 2020, the ones that I’ve had sat on my shelves for way too long. Today’s post is one of those ‘similar but different’ kind of things, as I wanted to share with you some series that I have already read and loved, and am desperate to pick back up.
I swear half the reason I never get around to the books on my physical TBR is because I re-read my faves but why would you only read a book you love ONCE?!

The Grisha Trilogy by Leigh Bardugo
This series was one of the first YA trilogies that I read and loved as part of the book community back in 2016. I am cheating a little as I have already re-read these in 2018 but with the upcoming Netflix TV show and the second book in the Nikolai duology I really want to revisit this world!
Six of Crows duology by Leigh Bardugo
Following on from the above, this duology is also set in the Grishaverse and the storyline will be featured in the Netflix show too. I have read Six of Crows twice but Crooked Kingdom only once, so I do have some catching up to do. I also feel like annotating these books this time around so I’ll see how I get on with that.
The Bone Season by Samantha Shannon
This is another series that I fell in love with in 2017, whilst at university. I have vivid memories of reading The Mime Order in between lectures and seminars in the university cafe, and actually being asked to move on because they were closing up and I’d been there for hours! We’re due another four books in this series so I would love to re-read the first three to prepare. I don’t think we will see book four for a while yet so I definitely have the time!
Throne of Glass by Sarah J. Maas
Would it even be my blog if I didn’t mention SJM? So I’ve actually read the majority of the books in this series two or three times, Kingdom of Ash aside, and as I mentioned in my goals for 2020 post I want to re-read and annotate this series this year. With eight books including Assassin’s Blade, it is a big commitment, but I love this series and can’t wait to make notes about my thoughts and feelings. (P.s. I’m not mentioning ACOTAR in this post as I’m already part way through my re-read of this series which I started last year!)
Shades of Magic by V. E. Schwab
So I never actually finished this series… dun dun dun. I started the books back in 2017 and raced through the first two but never got around to picking up the third. While I did enjoy them I didn’t love them as much as I anticipated, so I’m hoping that I can appreciate them more in my re-read. Especially as V has confirmed she is writing more books about these characters!
An Ember in the Ashes by Sabaa Tahir
Another series which I never fisnihed. Oops. I loved the first book when I read in just over a year ago but for some reason just didn’t continue with the series. I’ve heard some really great things about the rest of the books so I’m looking forward to giving them another go.
In the near future I do want to write a post specifically about re-reading, the pros and cons and why I choose to do it, but for now I just wanted to share the books and series I really want to revisit.

I am so bad at rereading books these days. Probably because there are so many books I want to read and just never have the time to do so. I’ve got The Expanse and Tales of the Ketty Jay series on my reread list this year. Fingers crossed.
I reread so much it’s a wonder I ever read anything new haha. It’s not even books I love? Sometimes I’ll reread a book I barely liked? Just because? Sometimes I hate myself haha.
I’m going to try and finally reread and finish Throne of Glass this year, I only read as far as Queen of Shadows then stopped.

All such great books! I’ve been tempted to try the audio books for the Grishaverse books!
I’m currently re-reading Harry Potter and loving it. I really want to re-read The Hunger Games again this year!
shamefully i havent finished any of these series, so maybe along side you i should finish reading these series that ive started ahah
I have read none of these…except DNFing ToG. Would definitely be down for a little reading buddy if you fancy it!
