A few weeks back I attended the first ever #BiMonthlyBookBash, a new collaborative venture between Sincerely, The North ran by Kimi and Book Hooked Box ran by Sarah, with help from the lovely Fi of Felfira Moon Designs! I’ve met some of my best friends through bookish events so I was super excited to see what the team had in store for us.

Sincerely, The North is a book blogger network for those of us, you guessed it, in the North of England! Currently the gang are based in Manchester, helping to bridge the gap between publishing which focusses primarily on London and us up north, but the team are hoping to expand soon!
You have probably also heard of Book Hooked Box already, a bi-monthly YA and self care book subscription box which I have seen nothing but rave reviews of ever since they started up.
Prior to the event, a few of us met up for some food and for a catch up. Although we talk pretty much every single day, it’s not often we all meet up so it was lovely for most of us to get to hang out on the day of the event. We even got to meet the first Furb Squad baby, Maisie!

We made our way to the venue which was a lovely and modern cafe in the Northern Quarter which was the perfect space for us! Kimi, Sarah and Fi had worked super hard for us all. We had a large table set up with lots of bookish goodies and space for the proof swap, where we could bring in some advanced copies of books that we no longer wanted and exchange them for another. I managed to grab a copy of Sawkill Girls and Kimi also very kindly gifted me an arc of Daisy Jones & The Six! There were spaces available for the creation of collaborative posts between us all and a bookstagram station which lets be honest meant that we were all in our element.
Sarah also revealed the latest theme for Book Hooked Box which was exciting and we had the opportunity to win one of the boxes! Fi brought some of her beautiful pins with her too and it took some serious resistance on my part not to buy like 20.

The team at Penguin Random House International Sales USA had very kindly sent us advanced copies of The Queen’s Assassin by Melissa De La Cruz for the event and I cannot wait to read this book! When I read the following words on the blurb I just knew that this is the kind of book for me: “When a surprise attack brings Shadow and Cal together, they’re forced to team up…… but as Cal and Shadow grow closer, they’ll uncover a shocking web of lies and secrets that may destroy everything they hold dear. ” Yep. Also look at how beautifully the book was wrapped up for us!
I had such a lovely time chatting with my bookish friends and making new ones, whilst supporting a group that are working so hard to make book events much more accessible for those outside of London. I can’t wait for the next event and if you’re around the North and are looking to meet fellow bookworms in your area, then make sure to check out Sincerely, The North and look out for the next #BiMonthlyBookBash!

Ah it sounds like you had such an amazing time – wish I could have been there. I hope you enjoy the ARC (if you haven’t already read it!) I’ll have to check out the Book Hooked Box!
It sounds like you had an amazing time 🙂 I’m far too far North for the group, but I’m there in spirit haha.
