Today I’m here with my Make Your Myth Taker TBR! Make Your Myth Taker is a brand new readathon, which runs from the 1st to the 30th June and is hosted and created by Ashleigh and Charlotte. Before we get into the post, I actually posted my TBR as the first video on my new Booktube account if you would prefer to watch that (and maybe subscribe? *wink wink*)
Ashleigh and Charlotte are the hosts of Myth Take Reads book club, in which they read retellings of myth, folklore and fairy tale. This has been really successful for them but they wanted to take it a little further this year, hence the readathon!
This readathon enables us to become our characters, rather than just read about them. There are 16 characters, and for each of these characters there are four prompts that you need to complete to reach your character. Or, to Make Your Myth Taker.
I won’t be going into much more detail about the readathon now, other than my own character choices, so if you want to know more please check out Ashleigh’s video which has all the info, rules, prompts and more!
My Character
Alongside the four necessary prompts, I’ve also chosen a couple from other character pathways in order to gain their “traits”, which is something Ashleigh suggests. So, hopefully by the end of the readathon, I will be a Faerie Queen Assassin.
I don’t think you’ll ever guess which author inspired that choice…
The Monarch or “Queen”

How aesthetically pleasing is this
Prompt #1 – A book with a Queen as a main character
I uhhmed and ahhed over this one for a little while because I don’t own many unread books featuring queens, actually this may be the only one! I’ve chosen Furyborn by Claire Legrand, which features two queens in different timelines. I’ve heard great things so I’m excited!
Prompt #2 – A book with a red, purple or gold cover
Illuminae by Amie Kaufman and Jay Kristoff was on the list of books that I really wanted to read this year, so I’m happy that I managed to match it to a prompt! I have really high hopes for this after hearing about how many people seem to love it, so let’s hope I feel the same.
Prompt #3 – The highest rated book on your TBR
For this I went to my TBR shelf on Goodreads and arranged it by average rating highest to lowest, and Clockwork Princess came out on top! This has come at the perfect time for me, as I only started reading The Infernal Devices series last month and recently finished Clockwork Prince. Meant to be??
Prompt #4 – Re-read a favourite
I am SO sorry to shock so many of you with this choice! Who would have guessed I’d choose A Court of Thorns and Roses? I already planned to re-read and tab this series this year, and with this being my sixth (!) read I’m excited to get down all my thoughts and highlight my favourite quotes – of which there are many of course.
The Traits

The Faerie Prompt #1 – A book featuring Fae
The Falconer has been on my TBR for such a long time now, I’m so happy that I’m finally getting around to reading it! With the main character being a Fae hunter and with steampunk vibes, I get the impression this is going to be a slightly different read to ACOTAR…
The Faerie Prompt #2 – A book outside of your comfort zone
I have absolutely nothing against middle grade, it’s just not something I usually pick up. The Trials of Morrigan Crow, the first in the Nevermoor series, has such high ratings and reviews on Goodreads so I’m excited!
The Assassin Prompt #1 – A book with a dark cover
Falling Kingdoms is another book that’s been sat on my shelf for far too long, and now is the perfect time to read it. It has good reviews from friends so I’m hoping it lives up to them.
The Assassin Prompt #1 – A quick read
At only 173 pages, there’s really no excuse for me to not finish Every Heart a Doorway really is there? This was a gift from my good friend Lauren and I am determined to finally read it!
EDIT: I came to realise that my TBR was very white, and not diverse at all, and this not ok. I am working on diversifying my reading for good, and not just as a short term fix, so I decided to add two books by black authors to my TBR: Clap When You Land by Elizabeth Acevedo and If It Makes You Happy by Claire Kann so I could start making that change now. Ashleigh and Charlotte have since announced that all formal rules for the readathon have been scrapped so you can amend your TBR as you wish!
And there we have my Make Your Myth Taker TBR! I’d love to know if you’re joining in with the readathon and what character you’re planning on completing!

I am SO TEMPTED to join in with this readathon, but I am a massive mood reader so I will really struggle. It sounds like such fun though, and you have some excellent books on your TBR.

It was a lot of fun!
Love this! I’ve only planned my initial path of Witch but think if I finish those books I’m going to follow other paths and make a story out of my character while I read. I hope you enjoy Nevermoor because it’s such a fun series and I absolutely adored it.
I did enjoy Nevermoor but just not as much as I hoped 🙁
I’ve seen so much about this readathon floating around! I hope it all goes well and good luck!
Thank you!
I swear, I always find out about these awesome readathons once they are over. Sigh, well I hope you are enjoying the final days!
