Hi everyone, today I’m here with my August 2020 TBR! I went a long time without sharing these, just reading what I felt like each month. But after sticking to a TBR for the last couple of months and with some readathons coming up in August, I was really excited to put together another plan. Keep scrolling to find out what I’m hoping to read this month.

Gideon the Ninth by Tamsyn Muir
I have been meaning to read this book for the longest time and finally, I will be doing it! My lovely pal Beth of I Am Book Mad is hosting the Lockedtombathon for both this and its sequel, Harrow the Ninth, so definitely check out the announcement post for all the info!

Cinderella is Dead by Kalynn Bayron
This is feminist retelling of Cinderella, set in a world where the story was very real 200 years after the Princess’s death. Sophia, a queer black woman is struggling with the rules set by the society she lives in. I very luckily received an advanced finished copy from Faye Rogers and Bloomsbury UK!

The Bone Season by Samantha Shannon
Imi and Ellie are hosting A-spec August this month, a reading challenge to bring books with asexual or aromatic rep to the forefront. I’ve want to re-read this series ready for the fourth book, The Mask Falling. While the rep isn’t on page, Samantha has confirmed that MC Paige is demisexual, so this book is perfect for the challenge. I can’t wait to revisit the world.

Loveless by Alice Oseman
Another book that is perfect for the reading challenge as it features discussions on being asexual and aromantic, and one that I’ve been looking forward to for a while now, is Loveless. This is a story about Georgia as she starts university in a brand new city and tries to understand her sexuality and identity after not feeling sure where she fits in.

Sweetest in the Gale by Olivia Dade
So after how much I loved the other books in the There’s Something About Marysburg series by Olivia Dade, I just had to add the next instalment to my TBR, especially as it was only published last week! This is a collection of short stories, described as “3 stories + 3 couples = 6 lonely hearts finding happily-ever-after at last.”

The Exact Opposite of Okay by Laura Steven
So I’m taking part in a bit of a travelling book project with The Furb Squad and first I’ll be reading one of Imi’s faves!
I’m super excited as we’ll be annotating each book as we go, and this one has already been around a little bit so I’ll get to read everyone else’s thoughts (from outside the squad too) as I go.
So I have a lot of books that I want to read, but I think I’m going to stick to these for my August 2020 TBR for now! I feel like this is still a manageable number without making me feel too overwhelmed? And then if I do get around to reading more, than that’s just a bonus!
Make sure to check out the readathons I’ve mentioned and let me know what you’re planning on reading this month.
