Oh wow it’s been a while huh? I have no excuses, but hey, I’m back, with my September 2020 Wrap Up! I read umm… one book from my September TBR, but it’s the thought that counts right? Let’s see what I did read…
So I was FORCED to read this by my pal Imi (I’m only half kidding and lol at the double meaning to this as highlighted by Bec!) but I’m so glad I did! This is the first book in a series about a group who are members of a BDSM club, with each book focussing on a differed couple. This was a super quick and super explicit read; I can see this becoming an addictive series!
This was a unique and individual take on a YA ghost story told through multiple perspectives. The book takes lots of twists and turns with a strong undercurrent of unease which I loved. It was also a diverse read with characters of varying ethnicities and sexual orientations which we love to see! This was unlike any other Lauren James book that I’ve read, and while I didn’t enjoy it quite as much as those, it definitely piqued my interest. Copy from Netgalley!
This was a sweet little novella about two of our favourite bois, during the summer leading to Nick heading off to university. I didn’t love this as much as the graphic novels, the characters felt a little different to me for some reason, but it was a cute read!
A book about a witch that makes a deal with a devil to avenge her twin’s death. And said devil is TALL WITH DARK HAIR AND IS SUPER GRUMPY? Siiiiiiiiign me right UP. This was an atmospheric and chilling read, with such descriptive world building that I felt immersed in the story. I’ll be posting my full review of this soon so keep an eye out for that. Huge thanks to Hodder for the advanced copy!
This is one of those books that I downloaded to my Kindle ageees ago after hearing great things on Booktube, and I finally picked it up. This is an “enemies” to friends to lovers new adult romance, with an arranged marriage where at first the pair are literally disgusted by one another. It was mostly character driven but there was enough plot to keep things exciting. While it is part of a series there was no real cliffhanger, though I do want to continue with the next book!
One of my most anticipated releases of the year and I was. not. disappointed. This is the adult romcom I was desperate for, a super sex positive read with FIVE CHILLIES on the spice rating! Clara moves across the country and ends up living with an unexpected stranger, Josh, who is actually a porn star. Cue hilarious exchanges, some seriously steamy smut, two dorks falling in love, forced proximity and more! There were also some fab discussions about reforming the porn industry to make it safer for women and breaking the stigma around female pleasure. A new fave of mine for sure!
So although I didn’t succeed with my TBR this month, I still managed to read six books so I am chuffed with my September 2020 wrap up! Here’s hoping I do a little better next month…
