I love reading these kinds of posts on other blogs so I’ve finally decided to take part myself! A weekly meme created by A Daily Rhythm and now hosted by Taking on a World of Words, in WWW Wednesday you answer three questions about your week of reading.
This week has been a funny one for me. I was pretty ill last week and struggled to get much reading done which is how I knew for sure I wasn’t doing very well. But this week I managed to pull it back by doing some easy reading of ebooks which has helped to keep me out of a slump.
WHAT ARE YOU CURRENTLY READING?
I’m re-reading a new adult romance series, where each book focusses on a different couple. Called the “Forbidden Men” series, some of the books cover some rather taboo/difficult subjects. There are also lots of trigger warnings necessary so make sure to check out some reviews for them if you’re interested.
There are definitely problematic elements, particularly in the earlier books in the series, and it is eye opening to re-read them a few years since I initially discovered them. However, they’re easy reads (for me) to sink into when my brain is feeling a little delicate, though they aren’t garnering very high reviews if I’m honest.
WHAT DID YOU RECENTLY FINISH READING?
Yesterday I finished a new release by L.J. Shen, Playing With Fire. I have an up and down relationship with this author, after not loving some of their “bully romances”. I picked this up on Kindle Unlimited and while again, I did find some parts problematic, overall I did quite enjoy this. Recently I’ve noticed that I have a bad habit of picking up a dark romance and then being shocked that the characters are dicks. BUT, this book kinda gave me what I was looking for, so…
WHAT DO YOU THINK YOU’LL READ NEXT?
I’m so excited to pick up Cemetery Boys by Aiden Thomas after becoming OBSESSED with the premise and seeing how much other people have fallen in love with this story and the characters. I definitely want to read it for Halloween because you know, ghosts who want to get revenge. But also trans rep, rituals and more! Sign me up.
What have you been reading this week? I’d love to know!
