Hey pals and welcome to my November wrap up! After reading 15 books in October I wasn’t sure I’d be able to top that and as I got through 11 in the last month I was right, but I’m definitely still happy with the result.
So it turns out that I read a lot of romance this month? In fact, EVERY book was a romance of some kind! We’ve got enemies to lovers, hate to love, second chance romance, childhood friends to lovers, fantasy romance and some very smutty romance…. so if you don’t like romance, I apologise.
Let’s get stuck into the wrap up!
Another book in the new adult series Forbidden Men by Linda Kage which I read the majority of back in October, in which Knox and Felicity meet as teenagers and build a relationship over the summer before they get split up when Knox goes to prison. When he returns, both he and Felicity are older and different people, and have to deal with their pasts in order to move forwards. It’s definitely a childhood friends to lovers and second chance romance kind of story!
Like I said last month, there are some problematic elements to this series and lots of trigger warnings like sexual assault, rape and abuse, so please read some further reviews if you feel that you may be affected by any of these subjects.
In this alpha male adult romance novella, Keira, who runs the family distillery, is dealing with the death of her husband after a troubled relationship and the knowledge that he took out a loan using her business as collateral. Lachlan Mount, the most dangerous and powerful businessman in New Orleans, arrives unannounced in Keira’s office, and he’s come to collect his debt. Cue a very adult and very sexual relationship…
Oh look, another adult romance! In this book we have so many of my favourite tropes: fake dating, friends to enemies to lovers, second chance romance and ONLY ONE BED. There was also lots yearning, pining and some definite steam. Oh and it’s set during Christmas!
Oooooh boy. These books, huh? I recently posted 5 reasons to read this series so I think it’s safe to say that I enjoyed them. A new adult romance series with some serious alpha male/bad boy vibes, lots of smut and a hearty dose of angst, these books ticked a lot of boxes for me. After a bit of an up and down relationship with L.J. Shen I’m so happy to have read these. And, they’re on Kindle Unlimited! Just please make sure to do some further reading if you have any trigger warnings as these books deal with a lot of different subjects like sexual abuse, rape, alcohol and drug dependence.
If you aren’t a fan of near the knuckle taboo romance then you probably won’t like this. A young woman and her father’s best friend, also her godfather who is fifteen years older than her, start to develop a romantic connection that draws them closer. But with the odds stacked against them, and not wanting to ruin both of their existing relationships, they have a lot to work through. There’s lots of angst and longing!
This book had been on my most anticipated reads list since I first read about it on Twitter. Not only because of the plot in which a tall, dark haired grumpy elf takes a human bride and catches FEELINGS, (which lets face it sounds like it was made for me), but also because I loved Air Awakens by Elise Kova a few years back. While I did enjoy the story and raced through it one weekend, sadly it didn’t quite live up the hype for me.
Oh my gossssh THIS BOOK. A childhood friends to lovers romance set during Christmas written by one of my favourite romance authors with a himbo main character, lots of banter, teasing and laugh out loud moments? An instant fave! And I have a full post on this book coming up later this week… 👀
So this book is about exactly what you think it’s about. A married couple spend a snowy Christmas in a private cabin, with the husband’s best friend. With each of them attracted to each other, the three decide to make an arrangement to explore this, but only for Christmas. Right? Very smutty, very explicit and only 141 pages. I’ll definitely be reading more from this author!
And there we have my November wrap up! Looking back at all the ratings maybe it wasn’t quite as good a reading month as I initially thought BUT I still feel pretty satisfied and excited for next month.
