Hi pals and welcome to my January wrap up – the first of the year!
So this month I read eight books, which I’m pretty happy with. Especially because I enjoyed all of these reads and one was an advanced copy of my most anticipated 2021 romance release and I loved it. However, I think we can all agree that January felt like a l o o o o n g month, huh.
I love when the year starts on a positive note like this. I feel like it has set up a great 2021 and I’m so excited for the fab books I’m hoping to read. Particularly as I have some really cool plans for the coming months!
Here is my January wrap up!

👻 Cemetery Boys by Aiden Thomas* 👻
I couldn’t believe, and still can’t really, that I waited so long to pick this up. A Latinx fantasy filled with ghosts and mystery, featuring own voices trans rep and a diverse cast of queer characters. I raced through this book and it was such a great choice to pick up as my first read of the year! I recently wrote five reasons why you should pick this book up so if you need any more convincing, there you go.

🛳 Shipped by Angie Hockman* 🛳
I was really looking forward to this contemporary romance and it was such a great piece of escapism. A hate to love romance between two colleagues who are competing for the same promotion and end up taking a cruise to the Galapágos to help create their proposal, this was filled with sun, steam and sexual tension. Check out my spoiler free review here.

🏳️🌈 No Room at the Inn by Brooke Winters 🏳️🌈
I picked this up when I was after a quick, smutty read and I wasn’t disappointed. An F/F romance set at an erotic hotel with friends to lovers, kinda dom/sub to lovers vibes, only one bed, forced proximity due to a flood and lots of explicit scenes. I raced through this novella and would definitely pick up more from this author! It’s set at Christmas but it’s not overtly festive if you wanted to pick it up throughout the year and you can find it on Kindle Unlimited.

💫 A Court of Mist and Fury by Sarah J. Maas* 💫
Okay this is the sixth time I’ve read this book so I definitely don’t need to go on and on and on again for the god knows what time on this blog. I loved it. Reading it again I still found new insights and links to other story arcs and this made me so happy. And yes, it still hits as hard as it did the first time.

🥀 A Vow So Bold and Deadly 🥀
This was another super anticipated release for me, and I very luckily won an advanced copy earlier in the year during the At Home YALC celebrations. Cursebreakers has fast become one of my favourite YA series and I was intrigued to see how the trilogy ended. I would have preferred a couple of things to play out differently though, and I definitely think that there is going to be more in this world! Here are 5 reasons to pick up the Cursebreakers trilogy.

🌶 The Roommate by Brandy Bush 🌶
If you’re looking for an erotica novella, look no further! In this 69 page long story (👀), our Black, plus size, queer main character goes to stay with her roommate’s family during the holidays and engages in a sexual relationship with the parents, Mr and Mrs Yu. This was a super naughty “taboo” top tier smutty story and I would definitely pick up more by this author! It’s available on Kindle Unlimited too.

🎉 Party Favours by Erin McLellan 🎉
Here’s another F/F erotica novella. Can you tell I have a type?
Wren and Amanda, two bisexual women, met online and became best friends. Five years later the pair meet up and spend the New Year holidays. When they arrive at their room however, it turns out there is only one bed… The two spend their holiday exploring each other’s bodies and their own feelings, and wow this was hot. There were queer side characters and talk of poly relationships and orgies, and the sex scenes were 10/10. Also yay for character development and plot too!

🎶 Act Your Age, Eve Brown by Talia Hibbert 🎶
(ARC provided by the publisher)
One of my very most anticipated reads of the year! I was so lucky and was granted access to an early copy and my god, I screamed. This book was everything and I’ll be posting a full review closer to release in March but I gotta say: a Black and plus size main character, autism rep, hate to love, sunshine vs grumpy character, VERY STEAMY SCENES, my fave Brown sister and love interest, cameos from the characters of the previous books, hilarity and laugh out loud moments, forced proximity, cosy and feel good writing and just the perfect Talia Hibbert vibes we know and love. Have I convinced you to pre order this yet?
And there we have my January wrap up! I love that I read a range of books this month and honestly, starting the year with one of my most anticipated releases being a five star read gives me good vibes for the next 11 months.
I can’t wait to see what the rest of my reading year is like!
What was your favourite read in January?

I can’t wait to read vow!
My favourite was a tie between The White Book and Rebecca! So different that I can’t choose
