If you know me, you know I can’t resist a good love story, and who would I be if I didn’t seize this opportunity to share with you 5 romantic reads to add to your TBR!
You definitely never need an excuse to read romance, no matter what time of year!
Personally, I’m not a big celebrator of Valentine’s Day (it’s a commercial holiday really, isn’t it). But whether you like to go all out, do nothing at all, are spending it with a loved one or not, here are some reads you could delve into this weekend. While not all of them are marketed as explicitly romance, there are romantic themes throughout the stories and hopefully there is something for everyone.
Here are 5 romantic reads to add to your TBR this Valentine’s weekend.

🐈⬛ Get a Life, Chloe Brown by Talia Hibbert* 🏍
Would it be a recommendations list from me if I didn’t feature a Talia Hibbert book? Probably not! But this book, in fact this entire series, is top tier adult romance for me. They’re diverse, they’re hilarious and super steamy. Tick, tick and tick!

🏳️🌈 Heartstopper by Alice Oseman* 📚
I know I know, you’ve probably already read this along with the rest of the world, but how could I not recommend this for Valentine’s weekend? These graphic novels give me such warm and fuzzy feelings but I love that they deal with more serious and important topics too.

📝 The Flatshare by Beth O’Leary* 🛏
This was one my favourite reads of 2019 and I remember absolutely devouring it. An adult contemporary romance about two flatmates who… haven’t actually met. It made me laugh and I loved the romance, but the book also deals with emotional and deep subjects such as an emotionally abusive ex and a wrongfully imprisoned sibling.

💜 More Than We Can Tell by Brigid Kemmerer* 💻
I had to add one of my favourite YA novels on to this list! We follow Rev and Emma who have their worlds turned upside down when Rev receives a letter from his absent and abusive father and Emma is harassed online. The pair then come together and form a powerful friendship. I absolutely loved these characters and while it’s not overtly a romance novel, there are themes woven in and this story has stayed with me for a long time.

🧝🏻♀️ Radiance by Grace Draven 🗡
If you’re in the mood for a little fantasy, then don’t worry I’ve got you covered! In Radiance our two main characters are different races, and are literally disgusted by each other the moment they meet. After being thrust together in political marriage as the “spares” of the family, the two form a friendship as they learn to adapt to each other’s worlds.

There are my five recommendations of books with a little bit of romance!
Over the next few months I’m going to be sharing lots more recommendations with you, mostly centered around a specific trope or feature. I’ve got plans to talk about recommendations of books with (good) fat rep, enemies to lovers, friends to lovers, grumpy vs sunshine character and a lot more. I’m so excited to put them together!
